Remove the sensor by holding the dishwasher door slightly ajar and removing the two screws holding the sensor in place at the top.

The door has become hard to open.
The reason this happens is because the plastic on the latch starts to warp over time and then instead of flicking backwards when you open the door it will flip forward and over extend past the locking position since there is no latch striker to stop it.
The second is to activate the safety switch.

There is a peg on the rotating latch that drops into a recessed trough looks like there should be a return spring.

Door latches are really two different parts.
The first is to pull the door tight and keep it closed to prevent water leaks.
Door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically.
Once the washer door is closed the washer can begin operating.
The dishwasher works fine.
The latch serves two purposes.
The latch can 39 t be reset if it went into the door lock position when the door was open.
If the door lock is defective the washer door will not latch properly.
Close inspection seems to indicate a missing spring on the actual latch.
The door lock secures the washer door shut during operation.
These will be immediately visible near the latch.
