For stompbox makers it seemed space really was the final frontier and for a long time after boss launched the rv 2 digital reverb pedal in 1987 there wasn t an awful lot of competition.

All of the modes are pretty cool though i do like some more than others. Rare pedal these are hard to find especially in this great of shape. The reverb modes include room two hall modes plate gate and a panning delay. This pedal has an amazing feel to the thing.

It has 6 different reverb emu. The pedal has a pretty standard configuration with stereo 1 4 connections for inputs and outputs. The rv 2 have the highest current draw of any boss compact pedal. As a result of this it was originally sold with a psa power adapter.

The configuration of the boss rv 2 is generally speaking quite easy to follow. The boss rv 5 digital reverb is a newest version of the compact boss reverb following the rv 2 and the rv 3. In terms of parameters it has knobs for effect level pre eq time and a six point knob for choosing the mode. The rv 5 is the most complete reverb of the bunch in my opinion and although it s digital it has a realistic and warm sound.

The pedal and the power supply wouldn t fit in a normal compact pedal box so the rv 2 was sold in a larger box similar to the one used for the psm 5. But then came a revolution in dsp technology making it far easier for the sonic boffins to put a convincing simulation of cavernous space into a box the size of a hamster s garden shed.
