A polished finish is the shiny high gloss type of finish with the deepest color saturation commonly seen on marble and granite countertops. There are two sides to this question. Covering the cultured marble walls is not a good idea. Technically it can be done but in practice it is avoided.

There is no doubt that painting over marble can be challenging but only if you do it the old fashioned way with hours of preliminary sanding.
